Out & About

Llety Mieri lies in the heart of the Towy valley just 2 miles from the historic market town of Llandeilo. The town has been the centre of the agricultural community for more than a thousand years and people still flock here from miles around.

You may find the Llandeilo experience a little old-fashioned. Actually, we are rather proud of the fact. For one thing, people stop and talk to one another on the street. You soon get used to people saying "Hello" or "Shwmae", taking time for a chat rather than rushing everywhere. Another unusual thing about Llandeilo is that most of the shops are run by their owners, where the service is friendly and the staff know what they are talking about.

Few other town of its size can boast the range of specialist shops that includes chic, cutting edge designer labels, fine arts and crafts, antiques and specialist kitchenware - plus a complete menu of restaurants and pubs to Italian delicatessen and luxury chocolatier. Indeed fashion and foodies have turned Llandeilo into a destination in its own right.

Garden lovers are spoilt for choice both Aberglasney Gardens Aberglasney Gardensand the National Botanic Garden of Wales are close to the cottages.

Just two miles away from Llety Mieri is the boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with The Black Mountain providing the scenic backdrop to many "Top Gear" photo-shoots. At its Western edge perches Carreg Cennen Castle - surely the most dramatic and atmospheric setting for a castle in Wales. To the east is Llyn-y-Fan Fach - the lake in the mountains - and the imposing "fans" of the Brecon Beacons, with its extensive walking and spectacular views - both winter and summer.

Towy valley with Brecon Beacons in the backgroundThere is a lot more to the locality than its gorgeous green countryside, there are some of the most glorious sandy beaches in Europe. Cefn Sidan is Wales' longest beach, just beating Pendine, where the World Land Speed Record was set in the 1920's. The seaside town of Tenby, with its quaint harbour, is less than an hours drive away.
